Good, but not perfect

Strengths: Easy to use and set up Much better than using web sites

Weakness: Takes a few minutes to aquire signal Sometimes takes wrong road

I travel a lot to many different places. I wanted a lap top GPS in order to limit number of items to carry, have a larger display and save money. Overall I am pleased with the unit. But I don't trust it completely. In small towns it doesn't know all streets. And it once sent me down a street that had been closed. However, I would hate to going back to just using Mapquest. Sometimes I use both,...

This was my first experience with GPS.

Strengths: This software has some great features, including voice. It is easy to get started and use. The routing is excellent and it will even re-evaluate your route automatically if you should get off course.

Weakness: The down side is that the GPS unit that came with it is not accurate and slow to respond.

I recently bought and used it on a business trip from New Jersey to Virginia. I first set it up in my driveway and the GPS indicated that my position was in the woods 200 yards away. While driving, the GPS did track well on major roads. However, on small roads, off-ramps and residential areas it thought that I had left the road and was 4-wheeling in the field next to the road. This tended to...

Value for money( hard earned )

Strengths: Small handy product that does its job quite well. The voice commands are very clear and audible. The software needs a learning curve but once you have used it for a while , its a cake.

Weakness: Well not too sure how would it work between high rises lihe in Manhatten or any downtown . It maynot be as good as a inbulit car unit

I travel occasionally and didn't want to invest in $450-$600 range. I was looking for a laptop based GPS and did a good amount of research to conclude that I should buy Delorme. My laptop battery may not last for very long drives but in my opinion , i only need a GPS while I am approaching the destination as I know my area , the highways never need a GPS and I always get lost as I reach the...

Excellent GPS receiver

Strengths: Compact; only use one cable

Weakness: None

I bought this GPS receiver just a month ago. I absolutely love it. It’s a perfect replacement of my old GPS receiver, which doesn’t have a USB connection and have an additional connector for power. With its USB connectivity, the LT-20 gets rid of a lot of clutter of cables.

earthmate

Strengths: very nice software, works great with windows

Weakness: no linux support

This is a very nice product. The size is small and the software is great. Linux support would be nice, but i did manage to get it running with emul-gpsd. A velcrol sticky would be an asset for times when you dont need the long cord.

Delorme GPS System

Strengths: great

Weakness: not pda compatible

it's great for the price i got it for. it's very compact and portable. i like it because you can interface with it by voice. i haven't gone on any trips as of late but testing it out on some short trips around the city has proven to be accurate and dependable. after a lot of research i would recommend this over microsoft version because for the microsoft version requires the passenger to navigate...

Delorme Earthmate GPS LT-20

Strengths: Great GPS navigation system at a reasonable price.

Weakness: None

I just bought this 2 days ago to use on my trip to Vegas. It is great GPS for the price I paid ($70). It is better than the microsoft one because it has a voice feature which the Microsoft one does not have. Overall no complains from this product for the price paid.

100% satisfied...

Strengths: signal strenth is way higher than other manufacturer's receivers like MS streets and Trips. It takes only 10 seconds to hook up a signal from satelites. Never lose signals. Amazing!!!

Weakness: Nothing.

At first, I purchased MS ST's receiver to travel to Texas area. But due to weak signal, I got always lost. Then I returned it and chose this amazing device. Now everything is fine and never return it.

Good little GPS system, but mapping software not...

Strengths: Very accurate GPS tracking, speech capable

Weakness: Poor mapping software, not intuitively designed, not very good in rural areas or tightly packed city blocks.

I bought this for a recent road trip from DC to New Orleans. It performed great on major highways. Points of interest and mapping in rural areas could be a lot better though. The version I bought came with street atlas 2005. I got the free upgrade to 2006 and it is not much more accurate from what I can tell. Sometimes when I am driving in a suburb, it will tell me I am in the middle of a giant...

Earthmate GPS LT-20

Strengths: Small size; easy connection to laptop; serial connection simulator to allow use of other map software; competitive price compared to other similar products.

Weakness: 2005 Street Atlas software. Hope the 2006 version will be better.

Have used it for a few days. If you already have a laptop and don't want to spend another $600 on a mobile GPS receiver or $2000-3000 on an in-car GPS unit, then this is the way to go. I don't travel far that much but this setup is very helpful in getting you to the places you want around town.
